Monica Long, President of Ripple, did not hold back in her criticism of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) during her speech at the Money20/20 fintech conference in Amsterdam. She expressed frustration with the SEC’s enforcement-heavy approach to regulating the cryptocurrency industry, which she believes is hindering progress.
Long highlighted the efforts of the crypto industry, including the Fairshake Super Political Action Committee (PAC), in supporting political candidates who align with their goals of promoting favorable legislation for the sector. Ripple, along with contributions from a16z and Coinbase, recently bolstered Fairshake with a $25 million donation.
Despite facing legal challenges from the SEC, Ripple remains committed to influencing legislative decisions that impact the cryptocurrency market. Long remains optimistic about the industry’s ability to sway regulatory policies, even in the face of ongoing scrutiny.
In terms of market performance, XRP’s price is currently at $0.5241, showing a slight decrease of 0.80% in the past day but a positive trend with a 1.32% increase over the previous week. Long also hinted at the upcoming launch of an XRP ETF and Ripple’s collaboration with Clear Junction to enhance cross-border payment capabilities in Europe.
