Plumb, a platform developed by EasyA on the VeChain blockchain, has introduced a unique way to reward users for engaging in sustainable shopping practices. Created by blockchain entrepreneurs Clive Tsungu and Tom Rowbotham, Plumb emerged as the fourth-place winner in the VeChain and BCG’s hackathon in San Francisco. This innovative platform allows users to earn B3TR tokens by making sustainable shopping choices.
Plumb was one of the projects that emerged from the VeChain hackathon, which was organized in collaboration with the Web3 developer education platform, EasyA. The hackathon’s winning project, VeFe, is a decentralized application that rewards users for adopting sustainable lifestyles.
Plumb has now officially launched and is actively rewarding users for their sustainable shopping decisions. To participate, users simply need to shop and pay at a merchant store, scan the payment QR code with the Plumb app, and instantly receive B3TR tokens as a reward. Plumb also offers a point-of-sale (POS) app that allows users to make payments and accept them. The platform accepts both crypto and fiat payments, ensuring that non-crypto users can also benefit from its rewards system.
Traditionally, users can exchange their accumulated B3TR tokens for VOT3 tokens, which enable them to participate in decision-making within the VeBetterDAO ecosystem. However, Plumb allows users to redeem their tokens for gift cards and other rewards. Interestingly, Plumb does not require users to have a Web3 wallet, making it more accessible to a wider audience.
While there are several sustainability platforms within the VeBetterDAO ecosystem, Plumb targets one of the largest markets in the world – online shoppers. With over 2.64 billion people shopping online, accounting for a significant portion of the global population, Plumb aims to tap into this lucrative market. Global e-commerce sales have already reached $6.34 trillion and are projected to continue growing this year.
Plumb is just one example of VeChain’s commitment to sustainability. Despite being ranked 39th in terms of market cap, the VeChain Layer 1 network has made significant strides in real-world applications and usage, particularly in the field of sustainability. VeChain’s sustainability apps cover various areas, from community cleanups with Cleanify to promoting sustainable caffeine consumption with MugShot. These platforms reward users with B3TR tokens, incentivizing them to contribute to a better and more sustainable world.
Incentives play a crucial role in this model, as they motivate individuals to actively participate in creating a better future. While many people desire a better world, incentives provide short-term gains that encourage long-term prosperity.
In terms of market performance, VET, the native cryptocurrency of VeChain, has gained 3.5% in the past day, bringing its weekly gains to 22.6%. This places it as the fourth-highest gainer among the top 100 coins, surpassed only by MOG, Maker, and Aave. Currently, VET is trading at $0.0293.
