The winners of VeChain’s VeBetterDAO hackathon, Meatless and EcoNex, were recently celebrated in the VeChain ecosystem. This hackathon showcased various projects focused on sustainability, with Meatless and EcoNex emerging as the standout winners. Meatless, created by a former Amazon engineer and a computer scientist from the University of Cambridge, incentivizes consumers to make sustainable food choices by offering them B3TR tokens. This initiative not only promotes sustainability but also indirectly supports sustainable food production without burdening manufacturers with additional costs. EcoNex, on the other hand, won the BCG award for its innovative approach to promoting eco-friendly commuting options. Through EcoNex, commuters are encouraged to choose environmentally friendly modes of transportation, with the B3TR token serving as a reward. Powered by the VeChainThor blockchain, EcoNex ensures transparency and trust in its reward system through real-time tracking and validation of eco-friendly travel activities. The hackathon featured over 50 concepts that demonstrated the growing interest in using blockchain technology to support sustainability efforts. Meatless and EcoNex were awarded a portion of the $30,000 prize money, and additional funding opportunities were announced at the event. VeChain’s goal is to enable developers to create sustainable corporate applications, and the hackathon served as the starting point for advancing the VeBetterDAO ecosystem’s development. Beyond hackathons, VeChain has made significant contributions to food safety and sustainability through its partnerships with industry giants like Walmart China. By leveraging blockchain technology, VeChain has increased trust and transparency in supply networks. The platform’s global logistics projects also offer disruptive solutions for streamlining supply chains and improving efficiency across industries. The VeChain team has developed VeChain ToolChain, a set of APIs and SDK toolkits that connect various organizations to facilitate seamless supply chain management. These developments have driven an increase in the price of VET, VeChain’s native cryptocurrency. As of the latest data, VET is trading at $0.04171, representing a 6.3% increase in the past day, with a market capitalization of $3 billion.
